Destinations

Walking destinations.
Years ago, I found myself on a treadmill in Hawaii. Relax, I did go outside on those beautiful beaches but this was at 1AM. I found myself on a very cool treadmill that allowed me to choose a destination walk. That was awesome. I actually found my hometown there! It was weird because I could do my daily walk thousands of miles away and it was eerily real. With the advent of AI and virtual reality, one can go just about anywhere. Similarly, I have played WEI games that have worn me out just participating in the living room. While these are fun and a good substitute sometimes, this brings in a good principle, we all need variety in destination.
Currently, I live in Monterey California and have my favorite destination walks. I have a list and will vary my walk by those lists depending on time and mood and in some cases ( because of tourism) days of the week.
I walk several beaches in the Monterey peninsula. Some can be accessed daily and easily walked barefoot or shoed. The roaring waves the sea mist and the gentle breeze or crazy winds will find me there regularly.  amongst those are found:
• Delmonte beach
• Carmel river beach
• North in Marina on the backside of the hotels you will find an apocalyptic walk that is eerie
• Remember that you will be walking on different sands, and some are easier than others
FORESTS AND MEADOWS
• Point Lobos State Park is a great walk through a variety of terrains views of the ocean for miles and many well marked trails and meadows that are open and beautiful
• Huckleberry hill. On the back side of the Veterans memorial park is the greatest Stairmaster nature can give you! Complete with forest trails and its small but mighty in its work out.
• Jaspers peak a bit more rugged, beautiful views and lots of wildlife.
• Carmel dog trail across from the Mission
THE INFAMOUS BIKE TRAIL :
• Stretches from Pacific Grove to Marina
• Paved
• Safe walking with beautiful views
• Runs through Seaside, Monterey, Marina and Pacific Grove with beautiful views
• Downtown Monterey to Asilomar will be 6-8 mile walk round trip (always remember the roundtrip. Places to use restroom along the way. On the other side of the Beachfront Hotel you must pay attention more closely for safety.
I love this area! Carmel in the early dawn yields a quiet experience that is beautiful. Seagulls squawking, waves in the distance. The smell of the bakery and the coffee while the restaurants gear up quietly is a real joy. The blue grey of the sky and the cool air as you walk in silence is one of the best ways to start your day. HOW can this not walk you to wellness?
